Due to a vehicle accident involving a fire hydrant near the intersection of Berard Street and South Main Street in St. Martinville, water levels in the Denbas Water Tower are gradually depleting, resulting in reduced water pressure throughout the city.

City crews are currently working to isolate the damaged area by shutting off valves in an effort to preserve as much water as possible within the system. Unfortunately, in order to complete the necessary repairs, water service will need to be temporarily shut off within the next hour to all areas south of Port Street extending to Cash Saver Grocery Store.

At this time, this is NOT expected to become a city-wide water outage unless unforeseen complications arise with the isolation valves.

The estimated repair time is approximately 3 hours once the water has been shut off.

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience and understanding. Our Public Works Department is working diligently to repair this major water leak and restore normal service as quickly and safely as possible.

Additional updates will be provided as they become available.
