The mission of the St. Martinville Police Department, in partnership with the community, is to protect life and property, to understand and serve the needs of the city’s neighborhoods and to improve the quality of life by building capacities to maintain order, resolve problems and apprehend criminals in a manner consistent with the law and reflective of shared community values.

Chief of Police Ricky Martin began his tenure as Chief on December 5, 2017.

He launched his law enforcement career in 1994 with the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Chief Martin has held various leadership positions throughout his career, demonstrating a broad range of experience across different agencies:

• St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office

• Broussard Police Department

• United States Department of Defense

• Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) (Contracted employee during the BP Oil Spill Investigations)

 

Chief Martin contributes thousands of hours of training and experience to the Police Department in his role as Chief.
